Flamengo completed the signing of Fabiola Sandoval on Thursday to bolster their women's team for the remainder of the season. The Paraguayan forward underwent medical tests, completed fitness assessments, inked her contract with the club, and reported to the Vargens training centre.
Sandoval, from Caaguzu, Paraguay, started her career at Sportivo Limpeño before stints at Libertad and Chilean side Colo-Colo. She arrived in Brazil in 2021 to play for Bahia, where her performances caught the eye of Avaí Kindermann. She thrived in Santa Catarina and moved to Internacional, where she spent a season. Cruzeiro was her most recent club, where she featured for the past two seasons.
Recognised for her sharp finishing and excellent game vision, the striker is particularly dangerous in transition. Thrilled with the move, Sandoval made no effort to hide her excitement as she thanked Flamengo for the chance to reclaim her place.
"I'm so happy. I don't even have the words to describe how proud I am to wear this shirt. Flamengo believed in me and my work, so this is the opportunity of my life. Our fans can be sure I'll give everything and leave it all on the pitch for this badge," she said.
When word came of the possibility to join the Mais Querido, Sandoval packed her bags immediately and touched down in Rio with one clear objective: forge a special chapter at Mengão and return to her national team.
"We're talking about a giant club—I didn't even need to think twice. I remember the moment my agent called, and all I asked was when I would report. It's a massive opportunity. Everything I am today I owe to Brazilian football. I hope to score many goals in the Sacred Cloak and get back to the national team," she concluded.
